I just wanted to touch base with every one and let you know about an upcoming event. On October 1st I will be off to Austin for the Arc’s 60th anniversary. This is a great mile stone for the Arc and I’m so excited to be a part of it. The Arc of Texas is the oldest and largest non-profit, volunteer organization in the state. They are committed to creating opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to be included in their community and to make the choices which affect their lives. The Arc supports families, advances public policies, provides training programs and builds a statewide network of advocates.
The events theme will be “Honoring the Past, Looking to the Future”. They will be honoring Gordon Hartman the founder of Morgan’s Wonderland and will have some special guests such as True Blue Society. The True Blue Society is a very special group of the most faithful givers to the Arc. As the founder of the fund raising initiative VIP CHIC I aspire to be apart of this elite group one day. Most of you know my family story and that I am a spokesperson for the Arc, but let me explain how donating to the Arc is important for me AND you. 1 in 5 people will diagnosed with an intellectual or developmental disability, this could stem from birth, a result of an accident or as we age. This could be someone you know or even you. I would be willing to bet that you know at least one person who has an intellectual or developmental disability. The person you are thinking about right now is benefiting from services supported and created by the Arc.
