For the last 6 years the parking lot of the Bass Pro Shop in Grapevine, Texas has hosted the Stop Drop and Roll Chili Cook-Off, and this year the competition was so tough 2nd and 3rd place winners had a tie! The Stop Drop and Roll Chili cook off raises awareness and funds for injured or fallen firefighters and their families. The event is always free, but $5.00 buys you a ticket to taste the chili competition and cast your vote for a favorite. Even if you don’t like chili, you can still listen to the live music, shop vendor booths or bid on silent auction items. All for a good cause! Mrs. Texas International 2010, Natalie Clegg McLarty, Miss North Texas 2011, Rachael Burns and I attended on behalf of the Texas International system. We had a lot fun signing autographs, taking the stage to talk about our platforms and of course sampling CHILI!! Getting to spend time with my sister queens AND eating is definitely a perk! At the end of the day the winners were announced and 1st place went to the Czipotle Czili Czechs with 32 votes, 2nd was a tie between Pyromaniac Outlaw Chili and Big Coin Chili with 30 votes each, and 3rd was also a tie between Sweet Stache Chili and the Arlington firefighters with 29 votes each. To say the least this was definitely the tastiest appearance yet!
