I am helping The Arc of Texas raise funds by engaging in a cell phone collections program. The Arc has partnered with Greenstream International, a cell phone recycling company that uses every part of a working or non-working cell phone. Nothing goes into the land fill! Greenstream pays The Arc of Texas a price per pound that we collect. Already, we are collecting enough to gain between $300 and $1000 per month which goes directly to our Texas Advocates Program, which empowers individuals with disabilities and helps them speak out for themselves and work to become employed and become productive members of their communities.
My goal to help the Arc in their efforts is to collect 100 cell phones by March 10th, 2011. If you only knew how much others would be blessed by the simple donation of a used cell phone, I know you would do it! So, clear out that junk drawer of cell phones that you are no longer using and do some good for our community! The cell phones do not even have to be working. So that phone you dropped in the pool last summer would make a perfect donation. Did I mention that 100% of the cell phone is recycled and NOTHING goes into our landfills?
